Will a GPS search for gas prices?

Is there a specific or more than one type of GPS that will look for GAS prices then estimate which one is most cost effective to go to according to your route? Or am I just dreaming here? Thanks in advance,

Please do not answer if you do not know or if you don't have resources like specific GPS devices to back your statement up.

Thanks again.

  1. No it will find gas stations but not their prices

  2. I actually just read an article this morning about some new GPS they're coming out with...they say they're trying to make it more of a social networking thing, with third party apps and stuff.

It did mention that you can search for the nearest gas station (or one along your route) that has the lowest prices. But it didn't say HOW it would fins that out. I'm betting the GPS 'community' would have to feed it the info...

    It's got mobile internet, obviously.

I think it was called 'Drive'...

  3. If you get a real good one like dan david gps

  4. no there isn't but that would be GREAT. i think you should invent it. i know i would buy it.   :-)

  5. okay, now you'rejsut gwtting TOO lazy.. god gave us GPS's yes..and god also gave us Gasbuddy.com.... seriously, just put the two together, and find out your car's MPG (type your cars name and year and add :mpg: then click the result that ends in "epa.gov"

then just do that math, it takes like 30 seconds if you have a mental disability, just under 8.4 seconds wif you're a regular human with a high school education.

  6. not that i know of

  7. I have a Garmin and I can tell you it will find some stations but not gas prices they fluctuate to much.

  8. I can say that there are gps models out now that will transmit current live data to a network (i belive it's transmitted to cell towers that will relay the info to a database to be uplinked to the gps satelites in space) that relays traffic jam info to other users/subscribers, so what's to stop people from uploading the information into their gps of their gas price per gallon at their local gas stations? i think the gps units that are capable of informing you of a traffic jams ahead just needs a software update and then that info can be relayed to others. as far as a gas station reporting their prices, i doubt that would happen, because then they themselves (gas stations) would be the reason why they're not gaining fuel sales when just around the corner another gas station is cheaper.

  9. gas prices change daily, there is no way it could keep up with the updates on every gas station

  10. No. It can only tell you wear a petrol station is.

    Sorry

  11. Yes Garmins with MSN traffic can. It can search for movie times at local theaters, weather updates, traffic updates, and of course  gas prices.

By the way MSN is a paid subscription. The first year is free and after that its a monthly fee or you can pay a one time lifetime fee for it.

"...MSN Direct, making it one of the most resourceful navigators available. Using the included receiver and free trial service to MSN Direct, you can check your local weather, avoid traffic backups, compare local gas prices, and even check movie times and locations, all while you travel."

  12. i dont think so

  13. Firstly, I own two GPSes and they both show where gas stations are located but not their price. One can connect to your mobile phone via BlueTooth. But now onto more relevant stuff.

My answer for you: Yes and No.

Yes there is a GPS which can tell you local gas prices but I don't think it can give it to you according to your route, but then again I do not own this particular GPS so I wouldn't know 100%.

What GPS is this you may ask? Why the Garmin Nuvi 780 of course.

    Features include:

"Go wide and get MSN Direct® with nüvi 780. This navigator has it all — advanced navigation features, a widescreen display, preloaded maps, an FM transmitter and hands-free calling — plus real-time local weather, traffic, movie times, stock information, gas prices and news and local events. Like the rest of the wide nüvi 700-series, its premium navigation capabilities, like route planning and a handy locator, give you peace of mind on the go."

I just did some google searching for you and this came up. Hope it helps!

  14. i dont think so xD

they havent come up with the technology to do that on the GPS lol

they should tho...maybe u can try inventing something like that =P thats always wat my dad says wen i ask him somthing like that

other devices may hav that program tho

the GPS only gives u to directions to certain places and u hav to update it very often which is kinda annoying but then again nothing comes easily and everything comes with a price...anyways GPS is really useful coz i hate being lost its such a waste of time...!! and i feel so stupid...

good luck with looking for a price worthy gas station

  15. There is one brand, the TomTom GO 920, that has a gas price checking feature.  Another is the Garmin street pilot c580.  I would do more research on google to find out which systems are the best deals and truly work well.

  16. if  you check on points of intrest it may say but I dont think so

  17. um......

no i dont think that is a major necessity on a GPS....

    the really expensive ones might

  18. i dn't think so

    mine doesnt

  19. GPS  stands for Global Positioning Devises and probably not unless your GPS comes with internet

  20. Nope. It won't. :( sorry mate.

  21. Sorry, maybe in the future.  Although in the future we may not be using gas, so never mind.

  22. yes some swill but not all of them just search on the one you want to buy
