Will a HTIB be ok in storage?

I ran across a unbelievable deal on a Onkyo HTS894 un-used and still in the box at a estate sale. I can't set it up in the room I want to use for 2 yrs, until my daughter moves out. I plan on putting it in my closet until then. Do you think it will be ok?

  1. It will be ok as long as it is an indoor storage, but as a general rule it is never a good idea to buy electronics that you don't plan on using ASAP.  Tech changes and prices drop fast, in 2 years your HTIB won't use the newest tech that will be cheap and standard.

  2. It should be ok as long as where you keep it isn't wet or too humid.  It might be a good idea to get a roll of like industrial shrink wrap or something to seal it up as airtight as possible. As far as it being out dated I wouldn't worry. If you are just looking for surround sound it will do fine in the future.  Most of the new audio advances are for blu-ray etc.. most regular dvds and hdtv audio is dolby and will continue for a while. Not to mention even low-end recievers can make just about anything into surround, it isn't perfect but it is surround sound and waaayyyy better than tv sound.
