Im going to purchase a JL 500/1 amp for my 3 W1 subs. I got a powerwedge loaded enclosure and I have had it for a number of years now. For some reason, I have high ohm subs because the Loaded Enclosure's final impedance is 4 Ohms. I already know that JL SLash series amps distribute the same power between 1-4 Ohms. I just wanna know will this system be loud? Or in other words will it rattle like crazy? I just want alot bass out my system!

  1. Mid 120's dB wise.  Question is ... Is that loud to you?

If you've had the enclosure for some time now, what did you run it with previously?

The 500/1 is probably the correct matched JL amp for that loaded sub enclosure.  Can't imagine putting a 1000/1 to it ... would blow those subs over time.

** Hard pressed for a comparison.  The Autotek Mean Machine amps were very nice amps in their day.  I would have to say yes, you will gain efficiency with a JL 500/1 ... just a testament to advances in power supply technology, but acoustically it's going to sound very similar to what you ran when you had the Autotek.  I'm looking forward to the new JL HD 600.1 amp when it comes out soon.  Reviews of it promise even lower distortion and more signal correction.  More to add to the "WOW" factor of an already outstanding amp.

  2. it probably would sound perty good but i wouldnt use three subs id use only two because using three will mess with the ohms or something like that but make sure you have a good box built for the subs too and they will sound great but i have a six in my car and its hittin almost 130 dbs because i have a good box built for it

  3. three 12's will be loud. make sure there getting enough power.
