Will a Ping Pong ball even bounce on Cork?

I am planing on making a Ping Pong Table and I am wondering if the ball will bounce better on Plexiglass or Cork?

It'll bounce better on plexiglass, but that scratches and scuffs up easily - it's likely to look fairly ugly before too long.

It WILL bounce on cork, but not well, nor will the angles be true.

Smooth-one-side plywood is the traditional surface, but MDO or MDF would work, too. Paint it a matte green and have a 'ball'!
