Will a SAMYANG 100-500mm fit onto a Nikon D40x?

so yeah, will it?

the lens is AIS. it is said to be manual focus, but meant to use for nikon film cameras. also has an aperture ring to dial f-stop. thanks!

It will fit, but the only DSLR's that will meter AIS lenses are not entry level cameras.

While the lens will "fit", you will have not TTL metering available.  You will need to use an external meter if you want good exposures.
