Will a Sony Media 8cm DVD+R DL - DPR-55DLL1H work on my Sony Handycam DCR-DVD 610?

I was doing some research and it looks like the quality is much better on these discs than just the regular ones. Will these discs operate, record off my Sony Handycam and play on a standard DVD player- region 1 or region free?

yes it is spec to work with DL disks which will give a longer run time, not better quality.  Sony style says it will work in most DVD players in the SD mode (not widescreen).
