  1. It depends on the soldiers deployment orders, unit of training and some other variables. I would like to think he will get a couple of days with you (at least!), but I don't know that this will occur. Keep close contact with them and see what it is looking like towards the end of training. I hate to not be able to say yes right off the bat, but I want you to be ready in case he doesn't. Let me thank you for supporting your child and for loving them! Write him every time you sit down, and harass him to write you every time he sits down!! Much love and hope of happiness to you.

  2. Depends how you mean it. If you mean that he is going to deploy, soldiers have R&R prior to deployment if they want to take it. Some choose not to. During deployment they have 15-18 days of R&R (Rest and Recuperation) too - depends on how long they are going to stay in the war zone. And afterwards they have usually 30 days of leave again. Some of them get even longer leave for various reasons. Some of them choose shorter leave.

If you meant that the soldier is leaving Germany, then he gets 30 days for his move to the other location. If he is married, his family goes directly with him or follows him at little later date (that depends what he has written in his orders).

I hope my answer helped you little bit. I know soldiers have busy schedule all the time and military life is not easy. They sacrifice a lot even some of their family time. But they always get to spend some time with their families. I know it can seem like it is not a lot, but if one spends well and makes nice memories it can be worth way more than months or years for some people. I'm mom myself of little girl, since her birth she has seen daddy for 1.5 month and her father will come back from deployment until she will be 18 months old. It gets hard on me and on her but it can be even harder on him or other guys who are there. You can worry, but all the times support your soldier as much as you can, let him know you love him and miss him and whatever he needs you help him and be patient when he returns.

Your soldier's unit will have FRG group, you can join it and receive news from FRG and other guidance like how to deal with separation and deployment. Don't worry, everything will be all right.
