Are VHS tapes coded like DVD's? I have been trying to locate a documentary by NIck Broomfield for a year or so now. I finally found a used copy and new copy on Amazon.Uk. I am hesitant to buy it, only because I am not sure if the tape will play here in the states. Any one out there know?

  1. No, it won't play.  We used to get lots of videos(before everyone had a dvd player) from Europe, we had to have them "converted".  It usually lowered the quality and cost $5 per video.

  2. They are the same, they will also work the same in your vcr that you have, you do not have to get a reader for them, CD's, or DVR DVD's are different.

  4. No it wont play. VHS in the EU and in the states are set up differently. EU VHS takes are not compatible with VHS players in the states and vise versa
