Question:

Will a bioluminescent bacterium such as vibrio fischeri live in regular agar?

I was advised to use photobacterium agar for the vibrio fischeri I've been meaning to grow, but regular agar is much cheaper. Does it make a difference, and if so, how much of a difference?

  1. I'm not sure if it will grow or not, it probably will, but it probably will not produce the luminescent effect, as this only occurs in certain conditions. You could do some reading online and i'm sure you would have a better idea then.
