  1. it wont explode....  but just burn off completely

  2. not right away, but it could potentially start on fire which will after a bit ignite the fuel tank

  3. No it is grounded by rubber.

  4. It's possible. Cars do get struck by lightning on occasion (no, they are NOT insulated because of their rubber tyres, that's a complete myth), and lightning could cause heating or a spark that could ignite fuel vapour in the tank. I've never heard of it actually happening though.

  5. i dont think a car with tires can get struck by lightning.

  6. No it shouldn't the metal body will distribute the charge and then it will arc harmlessly into the ground. The only time an explosion could happen is if the lightning actually struck the open fuel tank inlet pipe. The reason for this is that the inlet pipe would be full of fuel vapor and it is the vapor that ignites not the liquid fuel itself. I remember many years ago when I was in my high school science class the teacher explained that it is the vapor that ignites and if you were quick enough t drop a lit match into liquid fuel it would go out. Only problem with that is the vapor is always present so you wouldn't have any hope of successfully doing such an experiment.

  7. Doubtful. The rubber on the tires should keep it from being struck by lightening. But hey ive seen some crazy stuff happen in the past year so who knows. :)

  8. No because there is no earth contact. The tires are bad conducter of electric current.
