we have some mosq's and wondering if catnip plants can help with that, or if it won't since the leaves aren't crushed to give off the oils.

  1. I would think that the oils would need to be released from the plant to get results...   I hear people saying planting mint can keep away the ants yet I know of four different ant species that nest among and forage in my mint beds so I would assume it is a confusion of mint plants being the same as using mint oil as a repellent, would think the same applies to catnip and mosquitoes

  2. No but they will attract the neighbourhoods cats!

I you need a plant for mosquitoes , I advice you to get Citronella plants or lavender. They both work and at the end of Summer you can even cut the lavender to bring inside the house and make bouquets and sachet  with it .

  3. Never heard of this one before, you might get an influx of cats around your back door though!  You'll have to post back if it works.
