  1. Keep the humidity in the inubator high so the egg does not dry out. If a chick is kept in a broken egg for some while the membrane on the inside can stick to it making it imposible for it to get out.

Other breeders will no doubt thoroughly disagree with me suggesting it, but if the chick was due to hatch two days ago it should be fully formed. There should be no harm helping it along a little bit by chipping the shell away.  However, you have to be very careful doing this especially around it's abdomen area.  If it is not ready to leave it's shell the 'bellybutton'  will still be open and if any of the blood vessels around here are damaged the chick may bleed to death.  The chick is ready to leave the shell when it's 'belly button' has dried up and detatched itself from the inside wall of the shell.  If this is the case it is safe to remove the chick from the shell.  Keep it in the incubator for 24 hours after hatching.

  2. It all depends on when it is due to hatch.?

If any more than two days then it may not survive, make sure that the Humidity is kept high to prevent the egg from drying out.

From now on it is in the hands of he who looks after everything.!!

  3. I have pigeons. I have had baby pigeons hatch after i have had there eggs been chiped. Good luck

  4. If the heart is beating thats positive, but you'll need to spray the egg regularly to stop it from drying out inside the shell because they need that moisture.

I have heard of people putting clear nail varnish over cracks, but thats only in the early stages and with tiny cracks so I don't know if it'd work, give it a try if you think it might.

Edit - I agree with Emma above, when it starts to chirp try cracking it, but do it so so so gently as some veins and that are still attached, use a mustard spoon or something so its not too major for the poor thing.

  5. I think it will survive, as long as you keep it in the incubator until it is ready to come out, as long as it didn't take to hard a fall or anything, the shell should have protected it from getting hurt, & it should come out when it is ready.
