Will a chickens feathers grow back if half the skin has been taking off?

Our dog got in the pen with one:( She has some feathers in the back and her skin with the feather fullicules has been taken off on the front half. She doesn't have any puncture wounds.

  1. Feather are formed by controlled proliferation of cells in the epidermis, or outer skin layer, that produce keratin proteins.  Without that skin, they probably won't grow.  If the skin on part of your head was removed, hair could not grow from there.  All that would be left was scar tissue.
