I got a job offer for a management spot at a bank. My credit score is poor due to a messy divorce. I left him with the house and he stopped paying the mtg, it was out of my hands for a while. I am on the mtg currently. If I show proof of the divorce and that my personal items have always been on time. Will they allow me to explain each item and take into consideration the divorce, before just rescinding the offer? What do they look for that would make them rescind?

  1. You should write this up accurately and concisely.  Supply proof that your personal obligations are handled promptly.

They are looking for personal responsibility and also weeding out anyone who is so under duress financially that they are at risk of having sticky fingers.

  2. Let the potential employer know that your credit is poor due to the divorce before they pull your credit check.  That way you will have an opportunity to explain.
