  1. Beg to differ straight but horizontal is not to great an idea for long time storage. Bob Runde, Bill Schick, and Ernie Guterrez all recomend hard case with tubes in a vertical position. I personally display favorites in a vertical rack and "upend" stored cues ever month. I do agree with the thought of not how you store but where you store. Treat them like mushrooms and keep in a cool dry, dark place.

  2. All cue sticks will warp to some degree over time.  As previously stated, other factors come into play in terms of warping.  If you're referring to a two-piece cue, it is best to keep it away from excessive moisture and extreme temperatures.  Store it horizontally in a good hard case when not in use.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  3. A wood cue will warp eventually no matter How it`s placed .

i.e. Standing upright Or upside in Any rack, stuck flat up against a wall, or hanging from the ceiling; as long as it is exposed to changing temperatures and humidity.

The softer\poorer the wood used to make it, the faster and more severe it will warp.

Even a Soft, lined one is better than open air storage.

  4. Temperature and moisture content in the air have a bearing on cue's warping. You should just take a look at the manufacture's details because different materials react to different conditions.

  5. over time a 1 pc. would be more likely to warp laying or worse leaning on its side
