Question:

Will a digital DVD recorder work with my old non digital TV?

I am thinking of buying a new DVD recorder (old one stopped working) and was wondering if i should buy a digital recorder. My tv is roughly 10 years old but still works fine, so would a digital recorder work with my old tv or would i need a digital tv? I will be buying a new tv but not for a while yet.

Also does anyne have any recommendations for a new dvd recorder?

Thanks

  1. First things first.

When it comes to DVD recorders stick to the name brands!

Panasonic is the best. Sony,RCA,etc are good too.

Try to stay away from second and generic brands.

While the prices are low it's a gamble.

Sometimes they work great and sometimes they're junk.

I've been there, done that and I stick with the name brands.

ALL DVD recorders are digital. They all have analog A/V connections that will work with ANY TV.

If your current TV does not have line level A/V connections then you will need to get an RF modulator that are available anywhere for $10-$20.

If you need hookup assistance I can email you detailed hookup instructions for any installation.

If your TV works fine, then leave it alone. It will work just fine with your DVD recorder. As long as the TV is concerned, if it gets a clean signal it will display a clear picture and sound.

    Replace it when it breaks.

My main TV is a 35" Sears (RCA) stereo television.

It works like new and it's 12 years old.

Nothing wrong with an older TV!
