  1. Yes, there is a pill available for controlling the anxiety while flying on a plane and it is an effective medicine.

  2. yeah, h**l usually give you the lowest dose, unless youve told him something that has worked for you in the past (like 1 mg of xanax) and h**l most likely give you more than one.

  3. Yes a Dr will do this and in fact they may very likely have a sample in the office for you to try if you only need one pill.

  4. Typically yes.  I suggest getting a few though, you never know if you will have delays, layovers, etc.  Not to mention, you probably want one for the trip back.

  5. The short answer is most likely, yes.

There are several medications that are used to treat anxiety. The anxiety you are mentioning would likely not be treated with drugs such as Duloxetine (Cymbalta) or similar anti-depressants simply because they are mainly used to treat social/generalized anxiety disorder. What your doctor would most likely prescribe are drugs in a class called benzodiazepines. These drugs are generally short acting with the exception of a few (Diazepam, Lorazepam). The most likely choice would be Alprazolam (Xanax). Your doctor likely does not have any samples of this in his office simply because it is a schedule 4 controlled substance. Alprazolam is short acting and has a plasma half-life of approximately 11 hours. (I.e. it takes approximately 11 hours for your body to completely eliminate 1/2 of the drug). These particular drugs work very well to treat situational anxiety and are frequently prescribed for situations you describe.
