Question:

Will a draw driver correct your slice?

Just wondering. A friend gave me his driver but it says draw on it. I slice a little when I drive so will this counter that? Oh by the way what does "getting up and down the greens" mean?

  1. No it won't help your slice.  Getting up and down, in most cases, refers to making par from a less than desirable ball position near the green.

Contrary to what was posted above your slice has nothing to do with your grip.  Your grip may need to be changed but if you are slicing the ball it has to do with not being on plane on your downswing, if you slice you are "coming over the top" meaning you are pushing your hands out as you start your downswing and not letting them fall naturally back on the same swing plane in which you took the club back on.  Hence if you are pushing your hands away from you, you are "over the top" of the swing plane.  Buy an "Inside Approach" golf training aid and use it and it will fix your slice.

  2. I dont think a driver will correct it, however there are some other areas you could focus on to try to correct it.

The way that you grip your golf club has a lot to do with whether you will be prone to hitting slices or not. Although your grip is not directly related to the direction of the slice, it is directly related to where your clubface hits the ball. Every golfer's grip is a little different, and it can be difficult to diagnose grip-slice connections, because the same grip might produce very different results in the hands of different golfers. Still, there are some things you can do with your grip that can help you avoid golf slices.

There are some free instructional videos at the source below, that give instructions for curing golf slice.

  3. A draw driver is the same as a regular driver, but turned so that the club face is shut at address. This will temporarily fix your slice, but you will still have it with your irons. I suggest you try and work on keeping your weight back throughout the shot rather than lifting up to quickly.

Getting up and down AROUND the greens means to hit a chip and make a putt (2 strokes from around the green, usually to save par)

  4. A draw driver will lessen a fade. It won't cure a slice.

Getting up and down around the green means to chip from the fringe or rough and then make the putt or to blast out of a green-side bunker and then make the putt.

  5. It may help a little, but I don't think it's a "cure all".  If the clubface is open at impact, you will slice the ball regardless of the driver you use.

Gotta make sure the clubface is square at impact.

Getting up and down on the greens.  If you don't hit the green in regulation (means a chance to putt for birdie), "getting up and down" means scoring par on the hole.  Most likely a chip or pitch and a one putt for par.

  6. NO IT WILL NOT CORRECT YOUR SLICE! LET ME GIVE A LESSON HERE RIGHT NOW AND IF YOU LISTEN TO ME I PROMISE YOU THAT YOU'LL LEARN SOMETHING YOU CAN USE FOR THE REST OF YOU LIFE PERTAINING TO GOLF. THERE ARE MORE GADGETS AND BULLSH** OUT THERE PEOPLE ARE SELLING IN THE GOLF MARKET THAT DONT WORK! DON'T BUY THE c**p. GETTING UP AND DOWN SIMPLE. GETTING UP MEANS GETTING ON THE GREEN. GETTING DOWN MEANS IN THE HOLE. GETTING UP AND DOWN IN TWO. USUALLY USED BY ANNOUNCER WHEN A PLAYER IS IN A GREEN SIDE BUNKER OR HAS A BAD LIE SOMEWHERE. THE UP AND DOWN WOULD SAVE PAR OR MAYBE MAKE BIRDIE TO TAKE LEAD ETC.

  7. the driver should help, but all people are different so i would just play it and see

getting up and down means you chip it or sand shot to the green and one putt to save par, better known as scrambling

  8. Dont get too caught up in that kind of stuff.  If you cut across the ball with an open face and impart side spin, the ball is going to start left and slice-period.  The ball isn't going to magically start right of the target and draw 5 yards because of the club.  Good Luck!
