  1. I think you mean meteor. The earth gets hit with small ones every day. Most burn up harmlessly in the atmosphere. They range in size from a grain of sand to the size of your fist. Occasionally, something bigger comes along.

In the last few years, astronomers have been searching the solar system for what are called near earth objects. These are objects that scientists think will cross earths orbit through space. It doesn't mean that they are going to hit, just that they "cross the road" that earth travels on or come close to crossing that road.

Right now, of all the near earth objects that they've spotted, Apophis ( an asteroid) is going to come close in 2029, but will pass by 21,000 miles away.

  2. Do you mean 'meteor'? If so, you have posted your question in the wrong category. Anyway, no expert or govt official can predict it accurately. Such an event will be treated with confidentiality so as not to cause world-wide panic. Stop worrying and just enjoy the joys of swimming and diving! Cheers!
