Will a mixed drink with Aspartame still break down into formaldehyde in your body?

If you follow the artificial sweetener (aka small doses of poison) controversy you know that the most popular one on the market, Aspartame, is dangerous and can have horrible side effects including death. This is due to the fact that Aspartame contains 10% methanol (wood alcohol) which in itself is fatal in larger doses, but when heated inside your body it breaks down into Formaldehyde, which is even worse. Over time the formaldehyde harms your body due to chronic toxicity; essentially poisoning you to death slowly over years.

This Methanol is also present in all sorts of alcohol, however alcohol also contains Ethanol which prevents it from breaking down into harmful poison in your body, so it all passes through and the only harm is done to your liver. my question now is this:

If you mix a diet soda that has aspartame with alcohol as a mixed drink, would the ethanol from the alcohol make the aspartame 'safe' so to speak and prevent it from turning into formaldehyde?
