  1. Balls cannot swim. LOL. Expense also has nothing to do with how good a ball is, so a more expensive ball will not take strokes off your game necessarily.  However, having a ball that is fit to your particular game COULD take as many as 5 strokes off. Why? because having a ball that is taylored to your swing will give you optimum trajectory, spin and distance for your particular game.

Example: playing a "pro" ball if you're a beginner or high handicap may be a mistake because they're made for higher swing speeds. If your swing is slower and you get a softer ball for that swing speed, it will transfer more energy from the club to the ball and give you more yards and be more consistent.

technology is only part. Practice practice practice... and you'll get way more than 5 strokes off.

  2. Paying more for a golf ball will not automatically cut strokes off your score.  But hitting the right one for your swing speed etc might help (it could be more expensive or it could be less).  I don't know the name or brand, but I have been to driving ranges where you hit the balls into a lake, and they do float so that they can easily collect them.  But their performance isn't so good, so I wouldn't recommend them for regular play.

  3. No ball can help reduce your score consistently. Remember it is not the tools but the mechanic who gets the job done. So you want to reduce your average score by 5 strokes? Be ready to put in some serious practice time starting with your putting, then chipping, a lot of half swing irons, many hours with short irons, and all the way back to the driver.

  4. nope i dont think they do.

  5. No. The only thing that can take 5 strokes off of every round is you. The truth is you must find a way to make 5 more putts. Whatever it takes to get the ball closer to make those putts will lower your handicap. Any ball off the tee long and straight does nothing if you cant get it close enough to make a putt. 30 feet is too far to make every putt. If you get the majority of your putts between 10-20 feet, and make less three putts than 1 putts, your scores will go down. Remember you can still hit your ball out of the rough if you hit a bad drive. But if you make a bad putt the holes' stroke total just went up by one.

  6. No it wont, it depends on how good you are, a low spinning ball will be better for higher handicaps and vice versa.

  7. Practice and course management will take the strokes off. Don't be scared of the water or the sand.

  8. you know i've found the pro v 1 spins more than most balls. it might look cool but it doesn't matter. everyone else is right with their answers. work on your short game. it can take 1 stroke to hit the ball 300 yards, but it can also take 5 strokes to get the ball in the cup from 70 yards

  9. No golf ball is going to take 5 strokes off your game.  I'm a golf professional and I laugh when people come in the gof  shop and think they need the best ball.  Get a decent golf ball and then start practicing your short game. That will take 5 strokes off!

  10. the high price balls may add strokes to your game , and lower your bank account more than 5 strokes use mid price ball , saved money short game lesson . there is your 5 strokes , pro will give you drills that you can do to wreck your lawn . no lawn ,more golf . the ball that swims is a joke ball called a floater . it is not legal to use .

  11. No, improve your putting, that's half the game right there.  It's not as glamorous or "manly" but it's what wins tournaments.

Sorry, don't know of a ball that floats.......and none that actually "swim."

  12. cheap golf balls get little cuts in them and will throw your putting off
