Will a mpeg4 video file play on dvd players when its burned to a dvd-r disc?

  1. dvd player support mpeg-2, so u need convert mpeg4 to mpeg-2, then burn to dvd, it will be work ok for dvd player.

    A standard DVD uses MPEG2 format video..and to a lesser degree, the original MPEG video format. MPEG4 came out long after both of these and is a whole different format.

    Normally, no, a dvd player wouldn't recgonize a DVD-ROM with .avi files on it. However, it's more common these days to see Divx certified DVD players. Divx is a form of mpeg-4 and my Philips dvd-player that's Divx certified has had little problem playing various mpeg-4 avi'.s

    If you're wanting to do this..make sure you look for the divx (or maybe even mpeg4) logo on the player.
