just dug my old bike out of the garage and since i last rode it, I have gotten fat, and my saddle is not at all comfy, would I be better to get a new saddle, or is it due to my big bottom.

Thanks

  1. both.

I suggest working on both to alleviate the problem.

Go to a bike shop and have them fit the bike to you and select a new saddle that makes you feel comfortable and then start working on the big bottom. Soon you'll be a happier butt person.

  2. You might be best off purchasing some padded bike shorts.

  3. Wider more comfortable saddles are widely available. I'm about average build and my new bike (last year) came with a narrow racing style saddle which I found uncomfortable; I quickly replaced it. You deserve something comfortable regardless of your size.

  4. it might help or you can just get a gel comforter for about 5bucks

  5. Fist off, get used to with the Slim Hard Saddle you have. Get a nice biking pant with gel pad. All good road bike pants comes with gel pad inside. Your butt will get hard in few days and feel no pain. Bike riding is painfull! You will climb up and down hill. That is the fun part of it. You will loose weight anyway. Why worried about new saddle.? Unless your old saddle looks nasty for non usage. I like Road Bike because MTB is not made for fast pace and only for off road. Have fun with your ride and enjoy summer!
