Well I had got 2 male rats I got back in april and one of them died two days after I got him. So I got him an albino cage mate to go along with the black and white one I still had living. They lived very good with each other (play fights of course) until the black and white died in june. I had to leave my albino rat at a pet sitters house while I was away in Ethiopia for vacation. I am wondering if it is now too late for him to get along with another rat because I really want for him to have a buddy since he is really bored. I am guessing he is about 5-7 months old. Thank you and please get back to me soon.

  1. My friend has always had pet rats. When he first start getting them the people at the pet store said it's best to get them in pairs and it's best to get the same s*x so they can't breed and have lots of babies. Rats are very intelligent. I think it would be great to get him a buddy, but I would get the same s*x. I think it would make your rat now a lot happier to have a buddy.

  2. they should get along fine - just to safe though, you should have a second habitat ready if they do not play well together - it's best to introduce them slowly by letting them be in the same space for a little at a time until they are used to each other

  3. They'd be fine with proper introduction,

Introduce them on a common territory so the one you have now doesn't get really territorial.
