Will a normal humidifier cool a room?

no, humidity is what an ac unit removes, so a humidifier wont work

No. A humidifier only adds moisture. This will actually make it seem warmer. That is part of the reason they are used in the Winter in cold climates.

Swamp coolers do add moisture as well but they actually cool the air through evaporation. WArm dry air is pulled through the wet pads, moisture evaporates cooling the air. Humidifiers just recirculate the air .
