  1. I just bought a home in AMHERST N.H. it has several very old peach trees on the property!

They look to be about 20 years old, and will do very nicely with some pruning and spraying, SO I don't know how much further north than Amherst you are, but the zones change quickly in the mountains.

I have an orange tree that I brought back from Florida 13 years ago, it is in a 3X3 pot and I root and top prune it. put it out on the deck spring to late fall, and pull it in for the winter.

It produces well, and give the neighbors a good laugh with my New England Orange Tree.

Maybe you could do the same with your peach seeds?

Go ahead and try, what have you got to loose?

  2. If you grow a peach tree from seed, you have no idea what variety you are getting, and therefore no idea whether it will grow in your area. If the peach came from California, it is highly unlikely to be a variety that is suitable for New Hampshire.

You would be much better to get a living tree of a variety suitable for your climate from a supplier like Stark Brothers.

  3. For a short time.....

Like until the first good frost.

  4. New Hampshire is, I believe, a bit far North for successful peach production.
