Will a palate expander change the face?

Question

Bigger head size? Wider nose? More masculine face? or any changes at all. Also what is the longest time an active expander should be keep in the mouth? I have been turning the key for 4 weeks already(twice a day). Yes, there is a gap but my ortho says 1 more week! Will turning the key twice a day for 5 weeks increase chance of facial changes?

I had mine when I was 18, appeared to widen my cheek bones. I can definately see and feel a difference on my temporal process, but this has not been a good thing for me. Despite saying that if it's condensed it is probably for the better, my outer appearance already looked quite proportional and the palate expander made my face more diamond and my eyes appear closer together because of it.  It's been quite depressing.
