Question:

Will a perm help with my type of hair? Help! I'm clueless!?

I have thick hair that isn't curly or straight. Every hair just curls in its own separate way so my hair ends up being really poofy. I've tried all sorts of products but it still doesn't curl nicely, and I straighten it somtimes but it take about an hour just to get it straight. I was wondering if a loose perm would make the hairs curl together better so that my hair could have nice curls instead of messy poof. Do you get what I mean =P Help?

  1. loose perms

  2. Have you tried, when your hair is wet, separating it into lots of different chunks so that these chunks can curl separately? You could also try plopping (http://www.naturallycurly.com/its-a-curl... I'm not sure if a perm would help, just be aware that perms and VERY damaging to hair and often don't work out the right way! Anyway, it's up to you. But I'd try some natural methods too!

  3. A perm, LOOSE, perm might help the situation.  But before you do chemical damage to your hair, try "Curls Rock" by Catwalk.  In a blue pump tube.  I have similar hair, and I use this when my hair is damp, put about 1 and a half pumps in my hands and run it through my hair.  It kinda dries stiff, but if you take a towel and scrunch it some more after its more than half dry, it takes the stiffness out and feels pretty natural while still keeping the curls together.  Don't use your hands to scrunch or your hair will stick to your hands and it will pull the curls apart making them frizzy again.
