Will a person on Windows See a DOCX File?

Question

I'm on a mac and just completed a homework assignment on word. I'm about to send it to my professor but noticed the file type is "Docx"

Will this work with my professor when i send it to her via email and she opens it on her windows computer?

Or would i need to change the file type to just "doc?"

.docx is the newest word file type. Its the same on word for windows 2007  . Your professor will need word 2007 to open it. Tell him/her if they cant open it you will resubmit it.

I'd play safe and save the file as a .doc IN ADDITION to the .docx version.  Send both.
