  1. no, they need to be feed and they depend on you. Hermit  crabs that are pets are much diffrent from the ones that live in the water. Dont relase them. a bird will most liky eat them!! :(

  2. NO! NO! NO!!!! Don't do that!

  3. Lol its funny, If you take a wild hermit as a pet, it usually dies, if you release a crab, it won't as likely die.

If you live in the Carribean area, and you have Coenobita Clypeatus (Purple Pincher) Then I don't think there would be too much of a problem. If you see hermit crabs regularely on the beach, you have a choice. The crabs will probably die from stress.

Lets think: Hermit crabs go from wild to shipping plane or truck to pet store to your house to wild where they will go to a store again.

Just keep the crabs, they're the coolest pets ever if you take care of them right!

  4. no they need to be feed. It's dependent on you for it's survival, food and water. If you don't want them anymore I'm sure you could give it to a friend or something. they are a great first pet for little kids... know anyones birthday thats comeing up?

  5. NO! pet hermit crabs are generally freshwater crabs, mine were, too, and you can't release them at the beach. it would simply be cruel.
