  4. Yes it will, most print server will have the software to allow direct printing, some will even allow adding the printer using IP address, making it even easier to work with, any 2000/XP/Vista PC can make use of the IP printer without software.

  5. Probably.

  6. Yes it will.

It's possible to have your 3 computers share the use of your printer without using a print server but that setup has a major disadvantage. It requires that the PC to which the printer is installed and connected to must be powered on and fully booted before you can access the printer attached to it. That's annoying and time-wasting.

A print server eliminates that problem completely, because when a printer is attached to a print server it has it's own IP address on your home network; all devices on the network can use it independently of the whether the others are on or off. Typically, the server will attach to the router via and ethernet port and will itself attach to the printer via a USB port. If you have a handheld WIFI-capable device that can print to a networked printer you will be able to use it as well.

The setup is a little more tedious than setting up a router but the instructions will be provided in the server manual. It's possible to have it all set up within a few minutes.

Here's a link detailing what a typical installation of a print server would entail:

  7. Here is a solution:

If you have all the computers on the same network then you can just share the printer. By sharing the printer you can give access to all the other computers. Right click on the printer and click on sharing. Then when you want to add the printer to the other machines you will add printer click on network printer on another computer, then you will type

    \\nameofthecomputerprinterison\nameoft...

    example

    \\myhomepc\laserprinter

you can type \\nameofcomputer and click on browse you should be able to view the shared printer

  8. Yes it should

  9. I don't know. Why don't you ask him. HA HA !
