Will a search on the net send someone to my web site if they search for the name of my site?

and someone searched for wet polar bears would my site

come up and if so how high on the list? Is there a best way

to drive individuals who search for wet polar bears to

my site?

This all depends on three things.

1. How popular your site is.

2. If the keywords match your site content

3. The links on your website

There have been many books written on this topic. I have been reading Search Engine Visibility by Shari Thurrow. Basically you have to have a website that lists all the keywords that users normally search for many times. You have to select keywords that dont have as many competitors (https://adwords.google.com/select/Keywor... is a good tool). These keywords are not only put in visible text but also in the code of your site. Your site also has to be well linked together and include many links to different pages. Popularity will come over time but if your linking and keywords are good then you can get a good ranking. You also have to be careful not to spam. Some people just put keywords repeatedly on their site and hide them but this can lead to search engines blocking your site.

I just realised i didnt really answer your question. The name of your site has little if any importance to the rank unless you type in wetpolarbears.com, then you should be number 1.  The search engine must also index you and this may take a while (around a month or more for it to crawl you or you can manually submit your site).
