Will a seed still grow if it has been dipped in olive oil before being placed in the ground?

Absolutely.  But really there is no need to.  Go ahead and plant it the way it is without the oil..

How did that happen?  What an odd occurrence.  I would say you are better putting it over heat and making popcorn.

That depends on how long the seed was in the oil.  Did the oil penetrate the hull?  If not, a quick rinse and dry should do the trick.
