I have a truck and I want to install 2 of the outdoors all weather speakers on my truck bed. But I only see the 8ohms and I know that my car radio/amp works with 4ohms. Any suggestions????

Thanks

  1. Put 2 in in parallel (or put an 8ohm resistor in parallel)  and then you will have a 4 ohm speaker.

If you go to 8 ohm resistance, the amperage output will be cut in half  (A 80 amp amplifier will sound like a 40 amp).

If you put 4 ohm speakers into a 8 ohm system, make sure they are rated at twice the published working output.

  2. my friend used to run his house speaker off his deck, never had any probs and they were the 8ohm house speakers. he had the "ghetto sounds". sounded good until we saw what was in there. i say run em.

  3. They will work fine.  You total volume will not be as loud.

It is always safer to go with higher OHM.

    Good Luck...

  4. You'll be fine.  And if the efficiency of the 8 ohm speakers is 3 db or more then your 4 ohm speakers, they'll be just as loud.  You won't even notice a difference in volume.
