Yes, it's definitely possible. I know a local gunsmith, and he's told me stories about people shooting the cars glass to get out of the water, while the gun was submerged.

Take it to a gunsmith, to have it completly stripped, cleaned and reassembled.  Depending on how long it was submerged, there may or may not be rusting indie the action.

The gunsmith will let you know if it's still safe to shoot.
