Will a sky receiver that is starting to pack up be the cause of pixalation on my screen?

  1. It doesn't have to be the receiver packing up.  It could just be a weak satellite signal affected by atmospherics or it could be a weak signal from your dish to your decoder - maybe because of dish mis-alignment, water penetration, cable damage, loose connection .... that sort of thing.  If it persists, it seems worth checking everything from the LNB to the decoder before suspecting the decoder itself.


  2. If the pixellation is only happening on your sky channels, then yes.

    Check your normal terrestrial channels (if you can get them), and see what happens.

  3. If you're referring to satellite internet, yes.  Same thing happens with satellite TV reception.  You have to keep snow and ice off the dish.
