YEAH ive watched anthony bourdain: no reservations on the travel channel and he did this once. snowboarding on giant sand dunes in a desert. looks soo fun! little hot though. i prefer the cold snow :)

Yes, I've seen people do it - there is a "sand mountain" near me. You don't go as fast as you do on snow but you don't have to wait for winter either. You don't have to do it in the middle of summer either when it is really hot. They have people in quads or dune buggies haul them to the top. I talked to a guy and he showed me a snowboard he had been using and the base was really chewed up!
