Will a toothpick burn in the oven?

I'm making chicken flautas - spicy chicken mixture rolled into a corn tortilla, 'pinned' with a toothpick then fried. But, I want to bake them instead...can I leave in the toothpick? Will it leave a flavor/taste?

Thanks!

  1. well it might so i would probably suggest you soak the toothpicks in water so that they dont risk burning. hope this helps! =)

  2. soak them in water first

  3. I have been baking for many years and I agree with Dan, no need to soak.

  4. I do it all the time but prefer to soak the toothpicks or bamboo skewers in a paste of balsamic vinegar and curry powder.

That's some good stuff there Maynard!

  5. It might burn - you'll want to soak it in water for about five minutes prior to using it in the oven.  It won't leave any flavor residue.

  6. IDK bet you should try it and if it does it would be tight

you could connect like 10 and put a flame proof handle on the end of it and it could

    be a flaming sword!!

  7. soak toothpicks they will be fine we do same in restaurant

  8. Keep the temperature under 400 and the toothpick will not burn. They do not leave a flavor or taste, unless they are flavored toothpicks.

    Regards,

    Dan

  9. Soak the tooth picks in water before you put them in the oven to keep them from burning. No they won't change the flavor of the food.

  10. Yes it will taste like wood, around the toothpick if you dont soak it in water, and it will also burn
