  1. No. Just like women will never play in the NBA or MLB. First there isn't enough interest in women's sports in this country (i.e. the WNBA, 6 folded teams in the 11 year history, average viewership per game 200,000-300,000). Sure we love our women Olympic teams, but the two weeks the Olympic games every few years seems to be about the attention span America has for women's sports. When do you hear about softball? The Olympics. When do you hear about women's basketball? Olympics. Gymnastics? Olympics. Soccer? Olympics, and even then it wasn't until they made it to the gold match that anyone even really started talking about them.

Should women play in a male league, no way. With all the injuries that happen to men twice the size of the women who would play I can't begin to speculate on all the injuries the women would sustain. Perhaps I'm very short sighted but women will never play in the NHL.

  2. I doubt it. For the few women that actually can compete, theres still sexism.

The farthest anyone got was one preseason game in 1992 and 1993.  Goaltender Manon Rheaume played one game in each of the 1992 and 1993 preseasons for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

But in europe, Hayley Wickenheiser who is probly the best female hockey player out there played for HC Salamat in Finland, playing 23 games with 2 goals and 10 assists. She was going to play in Italy but they decided she wasn’t allowed to play in the men’s leagues. She turned down an offer to play with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL due to a prior commitment to the national team.  I think she was invited to the Philadelphia Flyers rookie try-out camp. I don’t remember what year and I don’t know if she went.

  3. Maybe. I'd rather the WNHL (or whatever it's called now) become big.

    greatwhitenorth28 AM,

    That made my day.

  4.   The only way would be as a goalie. She would probably have to be better than even most NHL goal tenders to even be considered.  However if it were to happen.. ESPN might actually break down and show some hockey highlights.

  5. Not likely. Women, are just not strong enough and their physiology is such that they won't be able to play.

Besides they're just too cute to have broken noses, missing teeth and black eyes.

The muscles needed to play hockey just don't develop the same way on the female anatomy.

Look at the female Amazons on the WWE, their muscles don't develop the same as a man's. The female anatomy favours development of the short muscles. Hockey requires development of the long muscles.

Even as a Goaltender, the rigours of playing 60-70 games in an NHL season will be too much for a female's anatomy.

  6. No, because a woman's pad only lasts one period.

I couldn't give thumbs up but now I can!

  7. If there good enough they could possibly.

  8. Everyone would shoot five-hole if a women played in goal. commentating would sound wierd , "He shoots and it goes between her legs and scores"

  9. Manon Rheaume already played two games with the Lightning in 92' and 93'.

    It's possible.

Personally I think if women are going to play in the NHL they will most likely play goaltender.

In general women are not as physically strong as men and thus will be not be able to playing defense or forward.

  10. No, because a woman's pad only lasts one period.

  11. They should, I play with 16 year old boys and im a fraction of the size. But womens hockey is more finesse and smarter play. Boys is more of the "lets smash someones face in the wall then get the puck!" In womens its passing and constant moving your feet. The game styles are incredibly different, and I find it easier to deke around boys than girls. I would love to play in the NHL, even though I wouldn't be one of those 300 pound pure muscle players, it still should be just as fair. And to get all the dumb guys who sit around saying girls cant play, it would make them eat their words.

  12. no i dont thinks so

  13. it'll never happen.. yea i know Manon Rheaume did it in the preseason , but itll never happen again.. even as a goalie
