  1. Depends on how old she is. I have 2 that are 36 yrs olds and a 8 and 6 yr old (almost) the 2 young ones are males and they don't even try with the old gals at all..sliders will be mature enough for breeding at about 5 years of age, this is when the female shell size is about 15 cms (about 6 inches).

I have seen the mating dance..The mating dance of this species is verycool and interesting to observe.  The male swims towards the female and starts caressing her face with his long front claws.  He might also swim around her in circles.  He might also strike her front shell lightly with his claws (this looks as if his front leggs are trembling). If she is receptive, she will accept him, otherwise, a fight might start.  In abouty 45 minutes, the female is not taken to ole Romeeo, you should remove her from the tank and try again  in about two days.  The mating itself takes about 15 minutes.

They mate between May and June and eggs take 80 to 90 days to hatch ..and thats my dear is another story..

  2. Yes, but in a lot of cases the female wont let it happen, and she could get extremely aggressive that HE is soooooooooo pushy, and she might kill him too. And do you really want 3 more turtles to take care, a huge responcibility, you would need three seperate tanks, because they could get suicidal growing up together if the conditions arent perfect.
