Question:

Will airport security crash my laptop?

I took my laptop with me over the summer on a plane and it was sent through one of those x-ray things in security. Once I got to my destination and tried to turn it on I noticed it was having trouble. It would turn on not even make it though the start up completely and shut off again. The battery was fully charged. Eventually it began to work correctly. It stayed on long enough for me to do a system restore and it worked again. I came home a few days ago and again and had to send it though the x-ray in security and again it won’t start. I tried for a week to get it to stay on long enough to do the restore and nothing. Most of the time it won’t even make it through the start up process.

  1. My husband has brought his through at least 20 times going to Iraq and back and all of the airports he goes through everytime and he never has. Maybe it screwed up the battery. I'd bring it to the geek squad or something. they saved my computer after I spilled an entire glass of OJ on it.

  2. Those machines SHOULDNT crash your computer. it may be a coincidence. however, when they are ran thru make sure the laptop is turned off (not standby). as an added precaution u might as well remove the battery. It should be fine if its not in use
