  1. "wow" above is correct.  Here's a link to the Government website on this issue with many interesting FAQs and info on the coupons.

  2. No, wide screen is not a product of digital transmission but how the video is shot, if it's filmed or recorded in wide screen format it will be shown that way.

  3. Yes if that will be shot in that format.

  4. I think people are confusing the facts of the digital switch to HD (high definition). THis switch only really affects people that receive TV for free with an OVer the air antenna (OTA, bunny ears or big antenna on top of house). If you subscribe to cable or satellite, it's not an issue as this is already being broadcasted digitally anyway. The only exception is if you have the very basica cable, which runs a cable to your tv with no cable box involved. In this case, you would need to upgrade to digital cable for you to keep enjoying your tv. Althought all HD is digital...not all digital broadcasts are HD. So no, you don't have to buy a high definition TV, if you're one of the people that has this issue, you can receive a $40 coupon towards the purchase of a converter that will fix this issue. google digital tv switch and you'll find the website where you can apply. Only HD channels are broadcasted in widescreen, a non HD channel will still be broadcasted in 4:3 ratio or "Fullscreen".

  5. Good question, they would all be digitally transmitted, but the screen format would depend on the station. Eventually, they would all be.
