  1. Historically, yes, they will all get the Delta new logo. Delta has two logos going now, the old and the new. Aircraft painting is expensive, so the Northwest paint schemes will be around for years. My guess (WAG) for the job to be done is 2014.

There was a time that United had aircraft in THREE paint schemes!

  2. im sure everything will be in delta logo even another delta 747,, Just a guess the airbus planes will be sold off as they do not fit the mold of delta, and im sure the 757,s will be kept

and i dunno about the dc-9,s id hate to see them go even though delta has the md88  a modifed dc-9, they might could use them on some of the rj runs and get rid of them completly. Nwa airlink has a boatload of those mesaba props, they will probably dump them.

  3. Some of the NWA birds will be sold or retired.  for this merger to happen, they will have to drop any overlapping routes, so they won't need all the aircraft of the combined fleets.

They might well sell the Airbus birds, to simplify their logistics and maintenance.

  4. The new Delta will have a mixed fleet.  It might take a while because Northwest has about 350 planes but eventually they'll all be repainted to the newest Delta livery.  Northwest was one of two U.S. airlines to have the 787 on order. The other is Continental.

EDIT.  The two route structures do not interfere with one another meaning there are very few routes that they compete in.  All the established hubs will remain in place.
