  1. Well, I love my history teacher. He's really informed and logical, pretty liberal (I'm in New York, so that is pretty good around here) and he is so sarcastic and witty, but in a way that everyone can understand.

Like, he makes fun of the wise asses instead of punishing them, but he does it in a funny way, not a mean way. We have SOOO many inside jokes in his class. For example, he randomly talks about evil midgets. We were studying this painting and there was this woman crouching over and a bush was in front of her and he was like, "What that woman doesn't know is that there is a midget hiding behind the bush, waiting to attack." He makes atleast one midget reference every ten days. It kind of wakes people up because it is SOO absurd.

He also tells us random anecdotes about history, like when we were studying about the industrial era, he told us how all those rich guys kept competing to show off their wealth and one guy had a huuuuge party and filled his house up with sand and hid jewels in the sand and gave his party guests golden shovels to find the jewels and some other guy had an ice sculpure of cupid and whiskey was coming out of the sculpture as if it was peeing - that was soo funny and interesting, and it related to what we were doing.

Once, this kid was falling asleep in class during the time we were studying the Revolutionary war and my teacher was like, "Harvey, you look so sad, don't cry Harvey, we eventually won the war."

Anyway. I'm not sure if I've made it clear but basically be funny and nice so that people love you too much and would feel bad about being mean to you.

  2. Someone fun and nice that you can talk to. But dont be one of those teachers who just sits there talking about anything but the subject you're supposed to be teaching. Make sure that you are being clear when you are explaining things. And dont just not punish people in an atempt to make everyone like you. You cant please everyone but you dont have to put up with people who are disturbing the class.

  3. if you're hot wear skimpy clothes.  all the guys will pay attention because they like the way you look and all the girls will pay attention because they will be trying to figure out why all the guys are attracted to you.

In the end you'll have the attention of the whole school.

    Or just be yourself :)

  4. DONT BE BORING...make the lessons fun,and dont give kids busy work. also you should let them socialize.only give them enough material to make sure they understand it.

  5. Depends, how hot are you?

  6. -Treat the students with respect. I have a history teacher who is very smarmy and annoying, and on ratemyteacher.com, he has a blue sad face.

-Make it obvious that you want to help. Don't act as if certain questions are stupid (unless they totally are). People ask questions so they can learn, and your job is to teach.

-Be fair. Even if you really hate a student, be sure to grade them fairly. If their opinions differ from yours, make sure that they have evidence that supports their thesis.

-Don't give out worksheets. None of the people I know benefit from worksheets because all they have to do is copy down an answer verbatim from their textbook and will not really learn.

-Be personable. Be sure to make people feel safe around you. I suggest looking up "Get people to like you" on Google.

-Be clear about your expectations. Many students are not brave enough to ask questions, so they end up doing things wrong. Be sure to stick to those expectations on every assignment unless you state otherwise.

-Write constructive criticism on people's assignments and and make it clear that if they need help that they can come to you with questions.

-Don't give stupid assignments. For example, don't give people video projects. Don't assign stupid poems "just for fun". My lit teacher (who actually follows all my rules so far) did, and I got mildly annoyed.

Follow these rules, and you will get a good reputation. Most of the teachers I know who follow these rules are known as cool, and the teachers who don't are known as b*****s and asses. Learn from your personal experiences.

  7. *sigh*

This'll be a long answer...let me type it up on Microsoft and then I'll transfer it to here.

I have to say that a good teacher is one that gets to know you as a friend.  One that teases you and you can tease back without being embarrassed.  For example, my favorite teacher is always making fun of anyone, at anytime she gets the chance.  She’s not afraid to be different, more teenage-like.  For example, she told off my friend in front of the whole class for flirting!  After that, she said, “Oh, c**p.  Now she wants to kill me.”

She’s unique and isn’t monotonous.  For instance, we get off topic quite a lot!  Once, we were talking about LML ( a program ) and the next instant she’s bouncing up and down talking about the dance that’s in a week that she’s going to, her dress, what she’s going to do, etc., etc.  The next conversation we got into was fudge and chocolate!

Of course, we do learn.  She has that eye that can just silence you just like THAT.  One look or word will shut us up, and we know when she means business.

H/O, I’ll post more when I get the chance.

  8. Use powerpoint so that we feel like we are going for a movie instead of coming to boring, just pure lecturing classes.

  9. A teacher is someone who teaches. Right? Well... You have to be more than someone who teaches. You have to be a leader, a mentor, you have to have a open mind and heart. You have to understand where the students are coming from then they will understand where you are coming from.

So show a positive attitude towards them and they will begin to show you the same respect. Get down to there level, but not below always stay a little bit higher. Make them feel like they belong and that you are glad they are in your class. Also be funny and goofy but not to the point where you seem as a friend instead of a teacher. If you are showing them that you are trying your hardest they will show you the same thing. But so don't stress about your teaching skills cause being diffrent is possitive and absolutly not negitive.

  10. I think a good teacher is someone who can make you enjoy coming to class, and really like the subject. And in the end, when you have a good teacher, you can see a huge improvement in your knowledge.

  11. if you want to be a good teacher just be nice and not yell in class and not give out so much homework. but it is nice if you give some people breaks once in a while
