Question:

Will alternative school significantly hurt my future success in life?

I've been going to alternative school for a week or so now, and

I'm doing fairly well. In any case, I know there are a lot of kids who go to alternative because they're either disruptive, lazy, or pregnant. I even saw one kid actually sleeping at the PC. I'm not like that, though. I think I have a good work ethic, and that I'm pretty intelligent. I just missed a few years (and not because I chose to drop out, or because it just "wasn't for me.") and I need to catch up to get my diploma before I hit 21 in two years. A GED is completely out of the question for me.

Anyway, I don't have a whole of choice in the matter, so I just want to know exactly how bad having gone to alternative over regular will look on various resumes. I hope to go to a regular university and get a fairly good job, maybe a lawyer..?

  1. It doesn't matter where you attend high school. On job applications and resumes all they will ask is , DO you have a high school diploma? WHere did you attend high school? Say yes and give the name of the school you don't have to mention it was alternative. I dropped out of high school twice! I will graduate from college in December with two AAS degrees in Engineering and will later get my BAS in engineering. Going to an alternative high school will not hinder your future. I went to an alternative my last year of high school. Just don't stop. Go to college! If you aren't able to attend or afford the university or college of your choice don't be discouraged enroll in a Community or Technical college. It's your future make the best of it! Don't let titles worry you! Alternative or not you attended and you will receive your diploma and go on with your life!
