Will an ATX Power Supply work for a MicroATX Motherboard?

If you have a computer that's got a Micro-ATX form factor motherboard, does that mean that you cannot install a standard ATX form factor power supply?

  2. The MicroATX form Factor refers to the size of the Motherboard, and that it use the ATX Power supply Specifications.

    Yes An ATX Power Supply will work with the MicroATX Motherboard.

    The real question is will the PowerSupply fit in the MicroATX case that you are using. I have seen cases that are built for Ultra portablility that require a special smaller size ATX Power Supply. The connectors are the same, but the size of the Power Supply is drastically smaller. Often times the output wattage is lower too. These Ultra portables are designed to provide services for a HD, DVD, Video, USB and not much else.


  3. Yes it will. It will work for all ATX forms. In fact, it will work with some other forms like BTX.
