Question:

Will an HHO generator harm my engine?

Will an HHO generator harm my engine in anyway? For example will the HHO gas cause the engine run lean or riche?

Are there any tuning aspects to the HHO generator that will need to be done while using one?

Is there a way of controlling the amount of HHO gas that is emitted into the engine? If the engine is idling, I don't need the same amount of HHO input and I would if I am running WOT. Can that be controlled?

  1. No, it will not harm your engine but the extra oxygen from the HHO generator (the O in the HHO) may trick your computer in to thinking the engine is lean (too much oxygen) due to the O2 sensor. This will cause the computer to add more fuel (i.e. it will run on the rich side). The articles I've read that talk about how to get the most use of the HHO installed a circuit to alter the output of the O2 sensor to counter the problem but since you don't know how much to compensate for the extra oxygen you can alter the sensor feedback too much and create a lean condition (which is bad). What I would like to know is for those that have installed an HHO generator along with the mod to the O2 sensor how much of their fuel mileage increase was due to the actual HHO generator and not a lean condition from altering the O2 circuit? Legal disclaimer - altering the O2 sensor circuit is a no-no by federal regulations and not recommended due to EPA issues.

Another issue is how effective is an HHO generator to begin with. It takes a lot of current to force the H2O to split in to HHO. This energy comes from the alternator which in turn is created due to energy generated from the burning of fuel within the engine. If the HHO generator creates 5 hp but it takes 5 hp to power the alternator to create the current to supply the HHO generator do you really gain anything?

As far as controling the output of the HHO generator if you lower the voltage to the generator the HHO output would decrease. So by controling the voltage to the HHO generator you can control how much HHO comes out of it.

  2. Your cars computer has no way to tell what you are adding to the combustion chamber until the spent gases reach the O2 sensor on the exhaust side. Depending on what the HHO does to the burning process in the combustion chamber the computer may try to lean out the fuel going to the injectors.

Bear in mind that the programmers did not foresee that people would actually put these 'snake oil' devices on perfectly good cars and therefore, did not make any allowance for them when setting performance criteria in you engine management computer. You are basicall yon your own in this 'experiment'. Good luck!

  3. It will be automatically controlled by your cars computer

  4. Why not ask the product vendor?

Oh, that's right, nobody has ever made a perfected working model of this.

    Scam.

    Thanks for coming.
