Question:

Will an Iowa speeding tik put points on my Missouri license?

I live in Missouri and recently got a speeding ticket while driving through Iowa for 80mph in a 65mph. I can pay the $130 fine online (which I’m cool with, the officer actually gave me a break)… but do I need to have this ticket fixed to avoid points on my license?? I can’t seem to find a straight answer anywhere if an un-fixed Iowa speeding ticket will put points on my Missouri license. Any help or references is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  1. Yes it will...

  2. You would have to check with the Iowa DMV to see if you could pay it on line.

Unfortunately, any speeding tickets 10 mph or more will be reported to your home state per the Drivers License Agreement/Compact.

  3. all states have reciprocity but what is common is that you will receive half of the associated points.
