Yeah!, I'm using one right now but, if its wired all you have to do is plug it in and when find new software comes up it will do an auto search and download the correct driver and then you can use the program Xpadder which is fun to experiment with.

yes it works with USB extension...i am using xbox 360 controller for windows for playing fifa 08... it needs a software to be installed which comes along with the controller...
