Will an alpine type r handle a 750 rms 1500 max amp??

  1. you'll be fine.

    remember, music is dynamic.  you'll never push a constant 750 watts to the sub unless you drive around cranking test tones.  The odds of that sub ever seeing a constant 750 wrms while listening to music is very slim.  

    Don't over think things ... or if you are going to think about it that hard, make sure you get it right.


  2. If given they are both the same ohm load, yes and no.   The headroom from the extra power will be good in assuring the sub doesn't see distortion which is the main destroyer of speakers.

    At the same time you don't want to push them too hard with the extra power as you could cause the cone to over excurse and cause mechanical damage.  This is especially true in larger boxes that allow the sub to excurse further for deeper bass.  A larger than normal box size for any particular woofer will require less power to reach it's excursion peak as well as becoming less sensitive.  Low notes will be accented more but at the cost of power handling.    

    Just be careful with the gain and volume k**b and all should be fine.
